Dentons Energy partner Lucille De Silva has been named by The Lawyer as one of its Hot 100 for 2017. She is one of just three UK energy lawyers recognised in the prestigious list this year.
Lucille focuses on the renewable energy market, in particular solar energy, and was recognised for her work in the industry since setting up Dentons' UK solar energy practice in 2009. During the course of her career, she has worked on more than 100 large-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects with a collective value of over £1 billion.
The Lawyer singled out Lucille's recent work for Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) where the Malaysian energy provider acquired a 50 per cent shareholding in one of the UK’s largest solar power portfolios with a combined net installed capacity of about 365MW. The £470 million deal, which closed earlier this month, was TNB's first acquisition in Europe and its first foray into solar energy.
Beyond the UK market, Lucille has been working on international utility scale solar and renewables projects in multiple jurisdictions across Africa. These projects are some of the first of their kind in Africa and have the potential to revolutionise the solar market.
In addition to her energy work, Lucille founded the Dentons Art Prize, a bi-annual competition set up in 2016 that supports diverse and dynamic artists in the UK. All artists involved in the competition see their works exhibited in Dentons' London office and have access to pro bono legal advice provided by the Firm.
