Children of Early Educational and Therapeutic Program of ELEPAP Athens, meet the polar animals

At this time of year students of the Blue Class of the Early Educational and Therapeutic Program – Unit of Special Preschool Education of ELEPAP Athens, learn about winter and its characteristics. As a part of this topic, students learnt about Polar Regions, focusing on many of the animals living there. The stories, interactive and hands-on activities provide excitement and curiosity for the children, as they learn. We discussed how each animal is created in a unique way to enable them to adapt to the harsh winters, such as the thick coat of fur or extra layer of fat, which keeps them warm. We saw pictures and videos on the interactive whiteboard about polar bears and wolves, arctic hares, penguins and seals. Of course, we made wonderful crafts to decorate our classroom. Last but not least, as a part of interdisciplinary approach, we combined our new knowledge with math and reading activities.
