Dentons director selected as Women in Property's London and South East chairman
Michelle Kershaw, director in Dentons' UK Real Estate team, has been selected to take on the role of Women in Property's London and South East chairman from 1 March 2018, for one year.
Women in Property is an association which works across England, Scotland and Wales with individuals, businesses and other industry organisations to help redress the gender imbalance and nurture female talent in the property and construction sectors.
Michelle, who has been a member of Women in Property since 2005, has extensive commercial property experience with a particular focus on development, as well as sector expertise in build to rent, primary care, hotels and industrial and logistics.
Michelle Kershaw said, “We are a non profit organisation run by its members on a voluntary basis, working with businesses and other organisations for over 30 years to address the diversity and gender imbalance in the property and construction industry. We must continue to positively contribute to the move towards an inclusive working culture, free of unconscious bias.
"We are a multi-disciplinary network, encouraging an exchange of ideas and sharing of expertise and, critically, we seek to nurture and educate the younger generation who would thrive on a career in the industry. I look forward to taking positive steps to engage, collaborate and encourage action in my year as Chairman.”
Jeremy Cohen, Dentons' CEO for the UK and Middle East, said, “We are delighted that Michelle has been selected as a leader in this area with the opportunity to nurture talent and inspire change for women working in the property sector. Supporting gender equality and equal opportunities is a key focus for Dentons across all areas of our business, and we are pleased that Michelle is in a position to promote these ideals across the real estate profession.”
In the London & South East area, Women in Property events are open to men and women and events have recently included a site visit to Battersea Power Station, seminars on Design for Build to Rent, Stress Resilience and Boardroom Series in collaboration with Women on Boards on Cyber Security.
