Snappy, sustainable and seriously tasty: the 2018 Global Good Awards
Join us at the 2018 Global Good Awards ceremony, whether you’re a ‘shortlister’ or not, for a night dedicated to celebrating excellence in social impact and sustainability, a ceremony you won’t fall asleep sitting through… And a truly sustainable evening.
At the Global Good Awards, we believe in being the change you want to see in the world. That’s why we’re pushing boundaries even further to deliver a truly sustainable awards ceremony… That’s also why we are keeping the official proceedings to 45 minutes!
Everything about this years awards ceremony will be eco-friendly: from the food to the dress-code. We’re confident our delicious, fully vegan menu will make your mouth water too… And trust us, meat-eaters will NOT be disappointed. We’ve tested it on committed carnivores, vegans, and flexitarians alike!
Food to delight meat-eater and vegan alike
The Executive Chef at BMA House has designed a bespoke menu, of exquisite vegan delights from India, Italy and Mexico. Guests will enjoy these in ‘street-food stall’ style either in the BMA’s Paget and Snow rooms, or outside in the Courtyard. A selection of vegan desserts will follow. We’ve tasted it all, and the non-vegans out there will definitely not be disappointed (they may not even notice)!
“I’d consider switching if all vegan food tasted like the jackfruit quesadilla! It’s like smoked chicken and it’s delicious.” One judge at the tasting event.
“I think cooking vegan food encourages you to be creative and to think more about the flavours and the techniques. It makes you more creative.” Executive Chef Gordon McCartney at BMA House.

We strongly believe that sharing best practice helps change happen faster. So we’re opening up our event to anyone who works in responsible business and sustainability, to share what we’ve learned over the last four years.
Less officiating, more time to celebrate and to connect!
You won’t have to endure a 3 hour award ceremony in return either… Ed Gillespie’s super efficient (and belly laugh inducing) hosting wraps up the official proceedings inside of 45 minutes, leaving more time to eat, drink, network, and celebrate. We can’t wait to welcome Ed back for the 4th year running – why change a winning formula?
This year, we’ll be at the magnificent BMA House in Tavistock Square. Steeped in history and architectural beauty, this Grade II listed building, designed in 1911 by Sir Edwin Lutyens, has housed the headquarters of the British Medical Association since 1925.
The historic venue perfectly combines elegance and history with state-of-the-art technology. Though recently upgraded with high tech facilities, the versatile spaces retain their unique original features. BMA House’s impressive courtyard and garden also provide some surprisingly quiet outdoor space that is rarely found in Central London (and which we hope to take full advantage of, weather permitting).
The Ceremony itself will be held in the Great Hall: a majestic 28 foot high room featuring floor to ceiling Corinthian columns, decorated with painted gold leaf, with comfortable theatre-style seating for 300 guests.
Dress code: freshly eco, with a twist
We don’t do the standard glitzy, black-tie dinners. Our dress code is ‘ECO-TIE’. So dress up in your finest fair-fashion. Be it sustainable cotton, upcycled or handed down, we ask our delegates to try and wear something colourful with a conscience. Most people will be in formal attire, but we don’t mind casual if it’s eco-friendly! We did this for the first time in 2017, and it made the event a very relaxed but well dressed affair. Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed male and female.
If this isn’t enough to whet your appetite for the sustainable event of the year, we don’t know what is! However, if you’re hungry for more, here are a few more credentials:
- BMA House is certified GOLD for Green Tourism
- All event material is printed on 100% recycled ‘Revive’ paper, by the only carbon positive printers in the UK, Seacourt.
- The whole event, including delegate travel, will be carbon balanced by the World Land Trust.
- There are never any single-use plastics at our events!
- A completely vegan menu, including the wines
- £10 from every entry and £5 from every ticket sale will be donated to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
On top of all that, there’s goodies to be had… We’re replacing the traditional – and in our opinion, un-sustainable – goodie bag with a sustainable market-stall style ‘goodies’ area. Here guests will be able to choose what they want from a selection of eco-friendly products. Nothing unwanted will be given away.
Guests will enjoy…
A Drinks Reception with canapes – unlimited sparkling, beers and soft drinks, and vegan wines! (Weather permitting in the quiet surroundings on the outdoor Courtyard).
Keynote speaker – Martin Wright
A snappy, 40 minute Awards Ceremony, hosted by Ed Gillespie
A ‘Street-food’ style dining experience – vegan delights from around the world with fizz, and vegan wines.
