Ethical Corporation: 4 key reporting trends

03.08.2018 Share

Do you want to know what your peers are currently wrestling with regards to their sustainability reporting and communications strategies?  We at Ethical Corporation conducted months of research for the 2018 Sustainability Reporting & Communications Summit [London, October 10-11] and listed below are the 4 key trends from the research :

• Reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals: The challenge for companies in using the UN framework is fourfold. Businesses need to identify the relevant SDGs, map them against their operations, measure and communicate their impacts. At the Summit we have the GRI, C&A, IKEA, Shift, PGGM, Allianz and Ørsted sharing pragmatic examples on how they’re achieving this.

• The Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures: The recommendations will help companies understand and showcase their resilience to climate risk and enable the market to reach more informed decisions. But elements of the TCFDs are challenging to understand and implement. At the Summit we have APG, CDSB, BHP Billiton, WBCSD and EIB explaining how to implement the recommendations, monetise your impacts and conduct a scenario analysis.

• Impact reporting and measurement to influence business strategy: The lack of maturity in some non-financial metrics makes it a hard decision whether or not to quantify and monetise data. How far do you go with assessments and what value are they creating within the business in doing so? At the Summit Yorkshire Water and Nordzucker Group will present how they’re using impact measurement to influence business strategy.

• Impact of the EC Non-Financial Reporting Directive: The European Commission’s directive will improve the quality and quantity of reporting and increase mandatory disclosure on ESG issues. But what’s the impact on your business and how do the TCFDs fit into this?  At the Summit we have Pirelli and The Financial Reporting Council sharing their insights.

This year’s conference is the strongest, most value packed we’ve ever produced.  We are bringing together reporting, communications and sustainability professionals to deliver the information you need to shift towards an SDG-focused reporting and communications strategy.
