The EFQM Global Excellence Award is the next challenge for many Chinese Organisations
EFQM is very active in China where a delegation of EFQM, headed by the CEO, visited this month several large multinational organisations who are interested in challenging themselves to apply for the EFQM Global Excellence Award. This is all in close cooperation with CAQ (China Association for Quality).
Together with CAQ we have visited the Chinese company SDLG, located in Linyi, which is a Construction Machinery company (world-leader n°2 after Caterpillar) and is 70% owned by Volvo. We were able to meet with their Chairman of the Board and the CEO and Managing Directors, to discuss the EFQM contribution to their Journey for Excellence and their participation in the EFQM Global Excellence Award programme.
Another very large Chinese organisation EFQM visited was Haier (world leader in household equipment, white goods). This Haier organisation we visited at their HQ’s in Qingdoa. It has been agreed to support Haier China on their Road to Excellence, first for all their entities in China and in the 2nd phase for all their operational activities world-wide.
Finally, both EFQM and CAQ delegations visited BNBM (Beijing New Building Material), located in Beijing.
Our delegation discussed first the participation of BNBM in the National Chinese Quality Award programme (managed by CAQ), which is a condition for Chinese organisations to achieve before they can apply for the EFQM Global Excellence Award. Their focus is on a 2-step support approach, first BNBM China and thereafter the global activities of BNBM worldwide.
Besides the high interests of Chinese organisations to participate in the EFQM Global Excellence Award, we also see the interest of our Chinese-European EFQM members have, like B.B.T. (BMW Brilliance joint venture) in Shenyang who is very active on their journey for Excellence aiming to apply for the EFQM Global Excellence Award in 2019.
Chinese Association for Quality (CAQ):
Together with our Chinese Partner CAQ, EFQM is building a pool of (Chinese) speaking EFQM trainers who can support on all the projects we run together across China. This strategic partnership will be crucial to the success of spreading Excellence across China, supported by leading Chinese organisations who are becoming global leaders for Excellence within their sector.
