Alpha Bank named “2017 IFC Best Issuing Bank Partner in Southern Europe” by the IFC
Alpha Bank was named “2017 IFC Best Issuing Bank Partner in Southern Europe”, as part of the Global Trade Finance Programme (GTFP) of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.
The “2017 IFC Best Issuing Bank Partner in Southern Europe” award acknowledges Alpha Bank’s ongoing support to extrovert Greek entrepreneurship, which resulted to the full and swift absorption of the Programme by its Customers since the Bank joined the GTFP, in January 2017.
Constantinos R. Dorkofikis, Executive General Manager of Alpha Bank, said: “This important award demonstrates Alpha Bank’s commitment in promoting international trade finance for Greek businesses and further strengthens our partnership with the IFC. Through the GTFP, Alpha Bank will continue to support export orientation and growth opportunities for its Customers, within a challenging and competitive international environment”.
Wiebke Schloemer, IFC Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, said: “IFC recognises Alpha Bank’s strong commitment to the promotion of international trade. Unleashing Greece’s export potential and connecting local companies to international markets can help tremendously to support the Greek economy and drive development”.
IFC’s Global Trade Finance Program helps boost trade finance activity and the competitiveness of partnering banks, with a focus on export-related business, by providing risk mitigation for individual trade transactions through GTFP’s growing network. GTFP provides essential support and liquidity for trade flows through a global network of more than 600 bank partners, helping small and medium-sized enterprises access the global trading system. Last year, GTFP supported more than USD 6.3 billion in trade.
