Blessing ceremony at the Summer School run by Vassiliko Cement Works

11.07.2019 Share

Vassiliko Cement Works is opening the doors of its Summer School for a second consecutive year to children of the Company and adjacent communities’ workers, aged from 6 to 12 years.

The standard blessing ceremony was held on 9 July 2019 at the Summer School, which is housed at the premises of the Primary School of Zygi and is to operate for 2 months, from 1 July to 30 August 2019.

Qualified teachers will keep the children busy with meaningful activities throughout the day, from 7.00 a.m. to 16.00 p.m. with a dedicated program developed by the Company together with the experienced teachers, in order to satisfy and meet the children’s needs.

The program is aimed to skill and knowledge development through various creative and group activities, such as theatrical play, painting, constructions, music, gymnastics, tae kwon do, life culture (emotional, environment), use of library, excursions, etc. Moreover, new activities were added this year, including robotics, soccer, zumba, dance, gymnastics and judo, in collaboration with external partners. Children’s lunch and snacks are provided by an approved local restaurant. The menu has been prepared with a view to ensuring a healthy diet for children.

The summer school was created to meet the needs of Vassiliko Cement Works and adjacent communities’ employees, as it was observed that there was no Summer School in the area to host children during the summer months, when schools are closed, and their working parents cannot easily find ways to keep them busy.

Vassiliko Cement Works has developed and is constantly further developing its Corporate Responsibility and provides social services through good practices it plans and implements, always adhering to its Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
