The Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation (HERRCo) operates as a non-profit organization, as stipulated by law, and serves purposes of public interest. It was founded by industrial and commercial companies that either place packaged products on the Greek market or manufacture packaging materials. Today, it counts more than 3,700 affiliated companies.
In addition to obligated producers, the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) also participates in HERRCo’s share capital, holding a 35% stake.
HERRCo manages the Collective Alternative Management System for Packaging Waste (CAMS-RECYCLING), which is licensed by the Hellenic Recycling Agency (EOAN), in accordance with Law 4819/2021. The national legal framework derives from European directives and obliges packaging producers – that is, companies placing packaged products on the Greek market – to ensure the recycling of their packaging waste.
