“Helping Hand” Programme by Alpha Bank

The “Helping Hand” Programme was launched in 2012 in the context of the Corporate Social Responsibility of Alpha Bank. The Programme’s key objective has been, since its inception, to support not only the vulnerable social groups (individuals in need, families having many children, elderly), but also the Greek businesses, from which the Bank procured the food supplies it offers.

In particular, the products were purchased from the following businesses: 3A (beans), AGRINO (rice), HAITOGLOU BROS (marmalade), GEOFROUTA HELLAS (Evia Figs), KRONOS (compote cans), KYKNOS (canned tomato products), MELISSA (pasta), MYLOI THRAKIS (flour), NUTRIA (oil), PAPADOPOULOS (biscuits), PITTAS SA (honey), SIOURAS SA (Kalamata olives), FAKLARIS (oil) and FLOKOS (seafood cans). The packing and distribution of the food supplies were undertaken by the company Corporate Promotions.

It should be mentioned that during the first two years, the Programme covered several areas in the Thessaloniki and Attica Prefectures, parishes in Xanthi, Kozani, Karpenissi, Igoumenitsa and parishes of the Dioceses of Nikea, Mesogaia and Lavreotiki, Kalavryta and Aigialia, and Patra. This year, the programme spanned parishes of the Dioceses of Florina, Edessa, Arta, Aitolia and Akarnania, Karditsa and Trikala, while food supplies were also distributed to the Social Grocery of the Municipality of Halandri, the Club for Unesco of Piraeus & Islands, to the Pan-Hellenic Association of Patients with Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome, to the Diocese of Kalavryta and Aigialia, the Diocese of Nikea and to the Church of Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Cholargos.

Up to now, 11,500 carts have been distributed.
