La Poste du Bénin innovates by distributing Mobiya TS120, by Schneider Electric

Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, announces an agreement with La Poste du Bénin and Asper, a consulting firm in renewable & energy efficiency in West Africa, to distribute Mobiya TS120, a mobile solar solution providing access to reliable, affordable and sustainable energy, in 108 post office throughout Benin by end of 2015. The agreement is part of the initiative Poste Verte, promoted by the three partners, which aims to contribute to social inclusion, foster Benin’s development and ease access to goods and services with low carbon and high economic & social impact.

As part of the agreement, Schneider Electric will supply Mobiya TS120 to La Poste du Bénin for CFA 20,000 francs (around 30 Euros). The partners have developed a flexible range of green financial services, such as green credit² and green tontine³, to support commercialization and secure optimal access to the solution for Beninese
.
Access to lighting is an essential need as it allows everyone, from schoolchildren to small businessmen, to continue their activities when night falls. By partnering with La Poste du Bénin to sell Mobiya TS120, Schneider Electric is opening a distribution channel with a high level of service that will allow Beninese to access a better quality of life, said Gilles Vermot Desroches, Senior Vice President Sustainability at Schneider Electric.

Schneider Electric developed Mobiya TS 120 as part of its Access to energy program with the purpose of allowing those populations to have a clean, safe and sustainable lighting solution. From a technical standpoint, the lamp runs off electricity from an associated solar panel and has a USB port that allows a phone or any other compatible peripheral device to be charged. The lamp has an ergonomic handle which means it can be positioned in 7 different ways to adapt to many different situations in daily life.

In the continuity of the Poste Verte initiative, the three partners plan to develop in a second phase their common actions with the creation in the whole of Benin   546 new contact points, true multi-service platforms, to develop basic postal services as well as essential services such as energy, health, transport and Internet.
