GEP: All the latest developments on how to prevent and manage chemical burns

On the 18th of May, GEP in cooperation with the French company PREVOR, has successfully held in “Athinais” venue, a scientific event on the prevention and effective treatment of chemical burns, in the presence of many representatives of Greek and Multinational Enterprises.

The speakers in their targeted presentations extensively analyzed the risks and the treatment options that the employers of our country have now available in order to adequately protect their employees from serious accidents with chemicals at work.

The participation of companies from all industries that use chemical agents either in their production or in other processes, have been impressive since the issue of prevention and effective treatment of chemical burns do not seem to have sufficiently resolved until today.

GEP, realizing the gap that exists in the effective treatment of chemical burns, took over the exclusive distribution of innovative formulations of Prevor, in the Greek market.

The so called DIPHOTERINE® and HEXAFLUORINE® solutions from the French company PREVOR, are currently the most effective options for the prevention of chemical burns. It is known that chemical burns may lead to irreversible physical injuries or even deaths of the employees. These solutions directly inhibit the activity of the hazardous chemical that comes into contact with the skin or eyes and prevent the drastic damage to the tissue.

As stated by GEP’s vice president & CEO, George Lambrinos, in his address, “The partnership between GEP and the French PREVOR is another significant step towards achieving our corporate objective which is providing comprehensive services and solutions on, occupational health and safety, environment and quality management, to protect workers, employers and society in general.”

The attendees watched with great interest the presentation of the Occupational Doctor of the Mining Company Hellas Gold SA, Vassilios Vassiliadis, who described his extensive experience on the Health & Safety Department of the company, especially on the specific subject, while stressing the need for creating culture on the health and safety issues throughout the industry in order to not lose valuable time in managing different injury incidents.

The Special Coordinator of Burns of the Burn Center of the University Hospital of Ghent, Belgium, Jozef Verbelen, in his speech developed step by step the progress of a chemical burn, within 24 hours, and then spoke about the available treatment options and their effects.

Last but not least, the Prevor’s export manager, Marie Anais Dentzer explained how these solutions can be used and the comparative advantages over other options of treatment of chemical burns. During the presentation and for better understanding, she also showed the common action of these solutions through an experiment.
