Successful Completion of the 1st “Beyond Hackathon” Competition by Eurobank Innovation Center

Eurobank’s “Beyond Hackathon” Competition organised in partnership with
Found.ation M.P. and THE CUBE WORKSPACE M.I.K.E. was successfully
concluded last weekend in Athens. Beyond Hackathon is the first such competition in
Greece organized by Eurobank Innovation Center’s and designed to spark, cultivate
and promote open innovation in the Financial Services industry.

The Competition was supported and promoted by Eurobank Group Banks, Bancpost
SA, Eurobank Bulgaria AD and Eurobank Cyprus Ltd in Romania, Bulgaria and
Cyprus, respectively. More than 150 Software Developers, Marketers, Designers &
Business Developers from Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, United Kingdom
and Israel submitted their ideas and proposals.

The Competition’s opening was marked by internationally renowned speakers such as
Carlos Diaz of SAP, James Dickerson of Accenture and Liz Lumley of
Startupbootcamp FinTech, aiming to inspire the participants and also share their
personal experiences at the international FinTech scene. The first day ended with the
presentation of 17 ideas covering a wide range of products and services from loyalty
programs to applications based on blockchain technologies.

The second day began with a detailed presentation of Eurobank’s API (Application
Programming Interface) by the relevant IT team which was present throughout the
event actively supporting the participants and their teams. The 17 teams, including
two from Bulgaria, one from Romania, one from Slovenia and one with participants
from both Romania and Greece worked intensively until Sunday to present their ideas
to the judging committee.

On Sunday afternoon, June 26th, Beyond Hackathon culminated with presentations
from the 17 teams before the jury which consisted of Eurobank Group’s Deputy
CEOs Messrs Stavros Ioannou and Theodoros Kalantonis, Mr. Sotiris Syrmakezis
General Manager & Group Chief Digital Officer at Eurobank, Mr Vassilis
Trapezanoglou from VIVA Wallet SA, Mr. Spyros Trachanis from Odyssey
Venture Partners, and Mrs Elizabeth Lumley from Startupbootcamp FinTech.
The prizes provided by Eurobank to the 3 winners of the Competition were
accompanied by grants of 5.000 €, 3.000 € and 2,000 € respectively and were awarded
as follows:

1st prize to the team “Counterfactual” with George Diamantopoulos, Kostas
Evangelou & Lamprini Zampou for their idea “Hack your finances, enrich your life”.
It was an application which based on users’ credit card or cash transactions anables
users to receive hints and tips on how to reduce their costs.

2nd prize to the team “Xbots” with Alexandros Ivos, Constantine Karavezis, Ioanna
Marasioti and Elizabeth Averkiadi for their idea “Taki” – The 1st Greek Personal
Banking Chatbot Assistant, an application aimed at improving user experience
through personalisation.

3rd prize to the team “Imperia Mobile” with Hristo Todorov, Valentin Kalchev,
Petya Dzhurdheva and Rositsa Maslarksa from Bulgaria for their idea “iBank”, a
native iOS mobile app, entirely user-oriented with feature-rich customer utilities.
Mr. Syrmakezis, said that Eurobank will continue to invest in open innovation and
technology by rewarding the efforts of startup teams contributing this way to the
creation of added value for the Greek economy.

Mrs. Maria Leontiou, Head of Eurobank’ s Innovation Center said it was a unique
experience for all participants and underlined that this was only the beginning of these
type of events that bring together talented people with innovative ideas and
representatives from the technology and the financial services industry and corporate
enterprises.

Beyond Hackathon was actively supported by global industry leaders in technology
and financial services, regional startup ecosystem stakeholders & academic
institutions that provided mentoring to participants throughout the weekend. Leading
companies contributed to the Competition with in-kind sponsorships ensuring that the
proper conditions were created to enable participants work undistracted on their ideas.
