Second reed bed cutting in Lake Stymphalia

With the support of the Municipality of Sikyonion, the Decentralized Administration and the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the second reed bed cutting began on 20 September 2016. This is the second reed bed cutting carried out under the LIFE-Stymfalia project, aiming at restoring Lake Stymphalia and creating open water surfaces for the fish and bird species. The Local Management Unit, operators of the amphibian reed cutter machine and mower binder, ornithologists and reed bed experts, as well as the Forestry Department of Corinthos work every day to accomplish this major project, which will revive and re-energize the protected wetland.
