COSMOTE Scholarships

COSMOTE offered scholarships worth €620,000 to 1st year university students, facing economic and social challenges, for the academic year 2017-18. The scholarships’ program, supports young people whose strength and persistence, teach us life lessons. COSMOTE’s scholarships’ institution has awarded a total of 622 scholarships amounting to €5 million, over the last 16 years.

COSMOTE scholars shared their personal stories and efforts put to enter the university during an experiential personal empowerment workshop that took place at OTEAcademy on “Overcoming obstacles, teaching life lessons to everyone”.

On the occasion of awarding the scholarships, OTE Group Chairman and CEO, Michael Tsamaz, stated: “OTE Group constantly stands by young people dreaming of making the world better for everyone. The progress of our scholars proves that any obstacle, no matter how high it may be, could be the motive for an even greater success. The future of these young people lies ahead of them. They can achieve any goal they set, as long as they pursue it with strength, faith and passion.”

“We are all here because we wanted to be. We have put a lot of effort on it. We know what it means to study hard, to be devoted to a science. We want this scholarship to benefit us but also to enable us to make a valuable contribution to the society”, as Elena Theodorou, a 1st year student in Law School who aspires to a judicial career, stated.

Giorgos Androulakis, studying Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is interested in robotics. “Our society tends to become fully automated and I know that electrical engineers are the ones to be invited to take part in this transition. I wish to participate in this journey myself as well. My ultimate goal is to facilitate people through technology”.

According to Antonis Kamtsikas Telligiannidis, who entered the School of History and Archaeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, “My effort in the Pan-Hellenic exams taught me that if you are patient and committed to your goal, you can, regardless of the means at your disposal, pursue and achieve your dreams”.

COSMOTE Scholarship Program includes 40 scholarships worth fifteen thousand euros (€15,000)1 each as well as “Zacharias Piperidis” scholarship, worth twenty thousand euros (€ 20.000)1, in memory of the OTE Group’s distinguished executive.

Further, COSMOTE provides scholars with laptops, and a full package of telecommunications services for fixed, mobile telephony, Internet as well as COSMOTE TV.

COSMOTE supports children and young people through various sustainable development actions, aiming at enhancing both education and development of their digital skills.

1. Legal taxes, fees, withholdings and any other required expenses to obtain each scholarship, will be charged to each beneficiary individually. The net amount will be paid in four (4) equal installments.
