COSMOTE participates in the Program “Provision of free broadband connection to permanent residents of Greek remote islands”, which offers, through state grant, mobile internet connection to permanent residents of 47 Greek remote islands.
COSMOTE provides island residents with 10GB Mobile Internet at €10/month, fully subsidized fully for 24 months by the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media, whereas the necessary equipment (USB Stick) is available for free. COSMOTE customers, enjoying the largest 4G and 4G + coverage network in Greece, exceeding 97% and 86% respectively of the population, can browse the web through their mobile phone at incredibly fast speeds that elevate the Mobile Internet experience.
The Program will be applied on the following islands: Antikythira, Agathonisi, Arkoi, Astypalaia, Giali, Kalolimnos, Kasos, Lipsi, Marathos, Megisti (Kastelorizo), Nisyros, Patmos, Plati, Saria, Symi, Telendos, Tilos, Pharmakonisi, Chalki, Pserimos, Samothraki, Antipaxi, Ereikoussa, Mathraki, Othoni, Paxi, Anafi, Amorgos, Donousa, Irakleia, Thirasia, Ios, Kimolos, Koufonissia, Polyaigos, Sikinos, Schinoussa, Folegandros, Agios Efstratios, Agios Minas, Thymena, Samiopoula, Fourni Korseon, Gavdos, Antipsara, Oinousses and Psara.
The beneficiaries are the permanent residents of those islands, as well as Public Sector employees, Armed and Security Forces staff serving on these islands that meet the Program’s Income Criteria1. The public subsidy amount totals to €120 per year, with one-time use and only one mobile connection.

The Program “Provision of free broadband connection to permanent residents of Greece’s remote islands” aims to strengthen islands by offering equal opportunities to beneficiary residents with access to broadband services and by familiarizing them with rapidly evolving online services and applications. The Proposal Carrier and Program’s Implementation agent is the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post of the Hellenic Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media.
