A new Trauma Center in the General Hospital in Karpenissi was created by OTE Group, along with the non-profit organisation “Pediatric Trauma Care”. The new Trauma Center will offer immediate healthcare equipment to more than 7,000 children annually and reinforce the services of the healthcare system in the greater area.
Over the past five years, ΟΤΕ Group has allocated over EUR 500 thousand for the equipment of 11 units for children in hospitals all over the country, taking care more than 85 thousand children.
“Once a child reaches the Trauma Center, time is critical for its health. By improving the infrastructure and the equipment of the pediatric units we facilitate the work of doctors for the care of children. Supporting children and make a significant difference for their future is of the most importance for OTE Group., as Ms Deppie Tzimea, Executive Director of OTE Group Corporate Communications stated.
“The more serious an emergency incident is, the less time we have in our disposal to take care of. It is very important to have the necessary equipment to handle every emergency immediately and successfully. The construction of the Trauma Center for our children as well as the reliability of the equipment facilitates and increases the safety and services we provide”, as Ms Maria Pavlidou, Pediatrician coordinator at the pediatric department of the General Hospital in Karpenissi pointed out.
Upon the operation of the Trauma Center, the responsiveness of hospitals is feasible within the crucial first hour (Golden Hour) following the injury of a child. Apart from the Trauma Center in Karpenissi, ΟΤΕ Group has contributed to the creation of two other Trauma Centers, in the “Karamandaneio” Childrens’ General Hospital in Patras as well as “Ippokrateio” General Hospital in Thessaloniki.
In addition, OTE Group along with Non-Profit Organisations for children has contributed to the provision of equipment with special machinery for eight hospitals in Athens; Alexandroupoli; Arta; Larissa as well as Heraklion of Crete.
During the course of the years, OTE Group has steadily supported vulnerable social groups through various initiatives of sustainable growth. In 2016 the social contribution of OTE Group exceeded EUR 3.6 million.
