“Hard shell, but sensual soft inside” – Because NIVEA succeeded in presenting the product features of a new kind of formula convincingly at the POS (point of sale), the NIVEA Body mousse was awarded on September 25th in the category “Design and Refinement” with the German Packaging Prize 2018.
“The tapered design was a very good technical solution with its gentle, conical material transition,” the Jury said. “With a skillful contortion of the round NIVEA logo, the consumer still perceives the logo as round despite the curved structure. The flow of colors is finely and harmoniously implemented perfectly supporting the impression of gentle care. The header is perfectly integrated into the entire design without any disruptive transitions.”
“A successful combination of design and printing.”
“This is a great success for Beiersdorf,” says Regine Werner, Brand Expert Global Packaging Development, who accepted the award on behalf of the Beiersdorf team at the awards ceremony in Nuremberg. “The new NIVEA Body mousse is a unique product experience. The aerosol packaging is a successful combination of design and printing,” says the packaging expert.
“The cross-functional collaboration was also successful in this innovative project,” added Klaus-Peter Stange, Team Leader Aerosol Systems and Metal Global Packaging Development. “The difficulty is first of all optimizing our packaging so that it transforms the very caring and viscous formula into a pleasant to use mousse. For this reason, we started the collaboration with the involved R&D and Supply Chain functions very early – and that paid off.”
