MYTILINEOS supports Dental prevention and treatment initiative

“Making children smile: Caring for children’s dental health”

Through a unique initiative, MYTILINEOS chooses to showcase children’s smiles and support dental prevention and treatment services for children in need. In collaboration with the medical-humanitarian organization “mission ANTHROPOS”, MYTILINEOS fully supports the implementation of the program “Making children smile: Caring for children’s dental health.” Free dental tests will be offered to 500 children from vulnerable social groups over a period of 12 months by the Social Services of the Municipalities of Agios Dimitrios, EllinikoArgyroupoli and P. Faliro, the Chatzikyriakio Foundation of Child Protection and the non-profitable Charity Association “Friends of the Child”, all within the Attica Prefecture.

The program has the following objectives:

• Dental check-up for all children;

• Dental intervention for the full treatment of children in need, in cooperation with a medical service provider;

• Recording of all medical related services offered per child;

• Screening of all children at the end of the program; and

• Preventive dental care education to children and their families around proper dental hygiene.

The program “Making children smile: Caring for children’s dental health” is particularly important considering the high cost of dentistry services which leave out financially underprivileged families. Children who are left without proper dental care can seriously affect their overall health, both as children and later in life.

The collaboration of MYTILINEOS with “mission ANTHROPOS” started in April 2019, as part of the implementation of the Company’s revised Social Policy aimed at developing synergies with social institutions, as part of the Company’s commitment to the 17 Global Sustainable Development Goals.

This new collaboration was built on the mutual understanding of the two parties’ roles and objectives, the thorough evaluation by the company of the significant work carried out by the organization, and, above all, the common value shared both by MYTILINEOS and “mission ANTHROPOS” for the provision of health services for all.

MYTILINEOS has long supported children’s basic right to quality health care by carefully screening and supporting such initiatives.
