COSMOTE stands by the people of Halkidiki who were heavily affected by the severe weather conditions, with a series of actions to facilitate their increased communication needs.
For the residents and visitors of the municipalities of Nea Propontida, Kassandra and Sithonia, COSMOTE offers free of charge:
- 2,000’ min airtime to all national networks, for all its mobile subscribers – with postpaid, prepaid and cost control tariff plans, valid until 22.7.
- 2GB of mobile Internet data to all its mobile subscribers – with postpaid, prepaid and cost control tariff plans, valid until 22.7.
Free air time and GB will be offered in two packages of 1000’ min and 1GB that will be activated on 11.7 and 17.7 for 5 days each . Beneficiary subscribers will be informed about the activation of the free airtime and Internet packages via text messages.
Furthermore, in order to facilitate its subscribers, OTE is deactivating call barring -permanent or temporary- procedures for all fixed, mobile and TV connections in the damaged areas. Free calls towards national and mobile networks are also available via OTE’s telephone booths, from 12.07.19 until 18.07.19.
Finally, in order to address peoples’ urgent needs, COSMOTE and GERMANOS stores in Nea Moudania, Ierissos, Kassandra and Polygyros provide batteries, powerbanks, flashlights and car chargers free of charge.
Because of the severe weather and power cuts, there are local problems in voice and data services, in fixed and mobile telephony, mainly in the Cassandra region. OTE Group technicians are working intensively to fully re-establish communication in the affected areas, by using extensively power generators.
