VERRA VCS – Jari Valley REDD+ Project
In the heart of Brazil’s Amazon rainforest, the Jari Valley REDD+ projects activities focus on forest management and conservation, the project’s lifecycle will avoid the deforestation of 64,886 hectares over the next 30 years. The impact of this project on biodiversity and carbon sequestration will result in the reduction of 666,000 tCO2e per year, and protecting over 2,347 flora and fauna species, many endangered.
Developed by the 4 times winner of the Environmental Finances’ Best Project Developer, Forest and Land use award , Jari Valley’s co-benefits and UN Sustainable Development Goals are equally impressive, and provide part of an outstanding example of how the reduction of CO2, biodiversity protection and sustainable development, can all be ensured and promoted through carbon markets.
