My Newfound Freedom – Accepting Our Interpersonal Differences
The windows have been thrown open and, depending on which country we are living in, we are at different stages of a much-awaited new freedom. Some of us are celebrating, some of us are struggling with adapting to the new normal, while others are terrified at the prospect of having to get out into the world again. Regardless of who you are or what your situation is, one thing that will help us all is empathising with others and accepting our interpersonal differences. Regardless of our own stance and opinion, we need to respect that those around us might be feeling and facing it in a completely different way. Certain measures are government mandated, while others are a matter of our own personal choice. It is a situation unlike any other we ever had to face, and that causes a great many insecurities. When we combine that with financial worries and other uncertainties regarding the immediate future, none of us will deny that despite the enthusiasm we might feel about our freedom, this is a very unsettling time. As we adhere to the obligatory new measures, it will help us if we respect others’ different views, while at the same time calmly prioritising and assessing how each of us should best move forward into this new phase. Life is change, and though we may be dealing with loss, there are always positive things that we can gain from any challenge. Let’s chose to face this in the best way possible, develop ourselves, and enjoy every step of this challenging journey!
