Piraeus Bank releases its Corporate Responsibility Report 2007

A principal conviction of Piraeus Bank is that the development of its activities will be optimal if achieved in a socially robust environment. Aiming at operating in harmony with society, it attaches major importance to the issues of Corporate Responsibility.

Corporate Responsibility is the voluntary commitment of organisations to include in their business practices social and environmental actions that go beyond any legal obligations. Piraeus Bank not only complies with the obligations imposed by Law, but also takes initiatives for policies and activities over and above such obligations, which are related to all the Bank's stakeholders (employees, customers, partners, suppliers, shareholders, consumers, civil society, etc).

In this context, the Bank strives to raise its standards for social development, cultural heritage, environmental protection and respect for fundamental human and labour rights. Throughout 2007, Piraeus Bank continued to act voluntarily, according to the principles of the UN Global Compact, assuming the initiative to support and promote such principles within the scope of its activities.

The 2007 Piraeus Bank Annual Report is harmonised with the fundamental principles and guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative-GRI (edition G3-2006). This particular reporting methodology aims at facilitating the evaluation of the Annual Report contents and the overall communication with all concerned parties.
