COSMOTE fulfils the wish for a world full of children’s smiles

Maria Tsiouni’s wish for a world full of children’s smiles was the one that stood out among the ideas that more than 7,500 people shared with COSMOTE in the framework of the company’s action “Our world is you.” With the active participation of Maria, the cooperation of other participants who had the same wish and with COSMOTE’s support, children’s faces at the Xatzikiriakio Foundation lit up with smiles.

“As adults it is our obligation to offer children reasons to smile and be happy. Some children need us more because they don’t have all that they should”, said Ms Maria Tsiouni and added: “This is why I admire the work carried out by Foundations, such as the Xatzikiriakio, and thought that we too can help in some way. By offering things they need, by building infrastructures.”

Based on Maria’s idea, COSMOTE set up the biggest live PACMAN that has ever been created. The goal was for the children to collect by themselves points convertible to financial assistance to the Foundation, through a day of joy and fun. The action resulted in a significant financial contribution to the Xatzikiriakio Foundation by COSMOTE:

• Coverage of heating and medical treatment expenses for an entire year
• Creation of an outdoor playground
• Radical facility renovation
• Equipment and games for all children

The total amount offered to the Foundation to meet its various needs amounts to EUR 110,000.

The first step of COSMOTE’s action “Our world is you” was undertaken in September 2011, when the company invited people to voice their own ideas about how we can make our world better. “At COSMOTE, we focus on every person individually and draw inspiration from their world. The idea for the action ‘Our world is you’ is premised on this very philosophy. The response by thousands of people and of course the smiles on children’s faces brought about by the realisation of the first idea are the greatest gratification for us”, said Mr Haris Koninis, Marketing Communications Strategy Director of the company.
