Free-of-charge medical exams for the ‘Friends of the Child’ Children’s Daycare Center

The MITERA Children’s Hospital is offering free-of-charge medical exams to the 32 children attending the Daycare Center ran by the “Friends of the Child” Charitable Association.

This initiative forms part of the HYGEIA Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility. Responding to the request of the “Friends of the Child” charitable association for medical support to the poor families it cares for, the Group decided to offer these medical exams to all children of the Daycare Center annually, at the MITERA Children’s Hospital Outpatient Clinic.

The children visited the Clinic, on February 21 and were examined by specialized doctors (pediatric surgeon, pediatric ophthalmologist, pediatric ENT physician), wherever deemed necessary. At the same time as the visit to the Outpatient Clinic, music therapists and preschool teachers of the Hospital kept the children occupied until their medical exams were completed.

Commenting on the initiative, HYGEIA Group’s CEO, Ms Areti Souvatzoglou, noted, “For us at MITERA Children’s Hospital, children are the center of our universe. We could not but respond with sensitivity to the request of the ‘Friends of the Child’ Association to personally ensure that their everyday lives will continue unhindered. Besides, in the almost 10 years it has been operating, MITERA Children’s Hospital, the most comprehensive tertiary children’s healthcare provider in Greece, has been standing by children and their families with respect and a sense of responsibility, fully addressing all their needs.”

The “Friends of the Child” Charitable Association was founded with the aim of providing assistance and caring for children from poor families who are facing health problems. It also offers aid to children out of wedlock and single mothers, while, in January 2011, it opened a Daycare Center for single-parent children.
