Love token by ΟΤΕ – COSMOTE

Over half a million euros to 14 NGOs for children in 2011

OTE and COSMOTE delivered today the total sum of EUR 550,000 to 14 non-governmental organisations for children, at an event that was held at ΟΤΕ’s Headquarters in Marousi, demonstrating their interest in children across the country.

“We are very pleased that we were able to offer a token of our love to children, this year as well. Children are the present and the future. Despite the adverse circumstances, we are not giving up helping those in distress,” the Chairman and CEO of OTE, Mr. Michael Tsamaz, stated after the event.

OTE, for a ninth year, and COSMOTE, for a thirteenth year, contributed part of the revenues they collected from sales that took place both at stores and online during the holidays, as well as from the SMS and MMS that were sent on New Year’s Day by COSMOTE subscribers, to NGO’s that look after children in need. OTE offered the amount of EUR 230,000 and COSMOTE, through its “Love Institution”, offered the amount of EUR 320,000, in order to assist the associations in carrying out a wide range of actions. Furthermore, instead of purchasing business gifts and printed cards for Christmas, the two companies offered the corresponding amount to three charities. It should be noted that the total contribution of the Group to Corporate Responsibility programmes was increased in comparison with last year, exceeding 6 million euros in 2011.

The president of the NGO “Together for Children”, Professor Emeritus of Paediatrics, Christos Bartsokas, stated: “OTE has been a precious supporter of “Together for Children” NGO for the past 9 years by steadily providing assistance to its efforts for children in need. We thank you deeply for the trust you have shown in our work and we hope that at such difficult times you will continue to set an example of social contribution.”

“While ‘MELISSA’ is going through the toughest period throughout its 90-year course in the field of child protection, COSMOTE through its precious support contributes to the consistency of our work and gives hope to the children it protects,” stated the President of the Foundation, Ms. Androniki Keramopoulou.
