The reconstruction of the building to host the COSMOTE ‘Programme of Solidarity with the Family’ has been completed

With more than 200 volunteers who participated in the reconstruction process, the three-storey building in the area of Makrygianni that will host the ground-breaking COSMOTE “Programme of Solidarity with the Family” offering in-kind and psychological support to families currently in distresss, has been completed. The programme is carried out in co-operation with the Hospitality and Solidarity Centre of the Municipality of Athens (KYADA), which granted the building.

The facilities have been officially handed over by COSMOTE to KYADA representatives in the presence of the volunteers who took part in the project, KYADA members and COSMOTE employees. The “Programme of Solidarity with the Family” will begin to offer its services immediately, within the next days.

It is noted that the idea to support families that are in need belongs to Iliana Karavioti and it is the second one to be singled out and take shape among the ideas shared by thousands of people who participate in the COSMOTE campaign “Our world is you”. Through the Programme of Solidarity with the Family 200 families will be offered food, clothing and other essentials, toys, books and Internet access, as well as support by psychologists and social workers for a year. All the expenses for the in-kind help to the families, as well as the cost for the full reconstruction of the building and its equipment are covered exclusively by COSMOTE.

Thanks also to the participation of volunteers who offered their time and effort for two weekends with great enthusiasm the building to host the Programme was fully transformed, within a short period of time, to a warm, hospitable space. COSMOTE employees-volunteers also participated in this effort. With their contribution, the first packages of food, clothing and other essentials are ready for the families in the programme.

A few words about the action “Our world is you”
With its second action “Our world is you” COSMOTE confirms that its customers’ world is a main source of inspiration for the company, and endeavours once again to make the world a better place. The first step was taken in September 2011 when the company invited the public to submit their own ideas. Over 13,000 people responded to the call, expressing their wishes. The first idea that was singled out and turned to reality in December 2011 was the wish of Maria Tsiouni for a world filled with children’s smiles. In this context, COSMOTE with Maria’s active participation covered significant needs of the Hatzikyriakio Childcare Institution.
