Turn your Idea into a Business with COSMOTE StartUp!

The fourth in a row “Our world is you” action carried out by COSMOTE is a project that will give shape to innovative ideas and turn them into entrepreneurial activities. It is the wish of Heracles Papadopoulos who wanted to support creative people and innovative business ideas, giving them the opportunity to see their idea turning into a business.

In order to promote the Greek entrepreneurship and create new opportunities, COSMOTE in collaboration with the StartIgniter (startigniter.com) created the COSMOTE StartUp! project. This project is aimed at people with new ideas, which can be transformed into a dynamic business under the right guidance and support by experts.

For those interested in participating in the project, an entry form can be filled, along with their team, at www.cosmotestartup.gr. Then, all participating teams will be evaluated by a judging committee in the field of business. Twenty-five of them will take part in a three-day Boot Camp, aimed at evaluating the way the teams work and communicate. There will be made the selection of the final ten, which will continue their intensive training course lasting four months.

In the final phase, a four-month training course of development and maturation of business ideas, a journey to Silicon Valley, the metropolis of startups, will be offered to the selected teams. Upon completion of the training, the project will result in an open presentation event of the final idea, as it will be configured to be addressed to prospective investors.

Through the fourth “Our world is you” action, COSMOTE gives visionary people the opportunity to see their idea being implemented, thus contributing once again to bolster Greek entrepreneurship.

About the “Our world is you” action
With the “Our world is you” action, COSMOTE gives everyone the unique opportunity to see his/her own idea of making the world a better place take shape. The first step was taken in September 2011 when the company invited the public to submit their own ideas. Over 7,500 people responded to the call, expressing their wishes. The first idea that singled out and turned to reality in December 2011 was the wish of Maria Tsiounis for a world filled with children’s smiles. On that occasion, COSMOTE with Maria’s active participation covered essential needs of the Chatzikiriakeio Children’s Foundation. The second action, the “Family Support Program” brought to life the idea of Iliana Karaviotis to support families in need. In collaboration with the Hospitality and Solidarity Centre of the City of Athens (KYADA), COSMOTE fully reconstructed a building offered by KYADA in the area of Makriyannis and provided 200 families with food, clothing and basic necessities, toys, books, and psychological support for an entire year. The wish of Sonia Charalambidou from Prespes and Dimitra Koufidou from Samothrace to improve everyday life in the border areas of Greece where they live was the reason for implementing the third action. COSMOTE undertook and completed restoration and full renovation works at two municipal buildings, the Patoulideio Sports Centre and the Laimos Municipal Library. At the same time, the Cultural Centre of Samothrace was totally restored and delivered to the Municipality and to all the inhabitants of Samothrace.
