ALUMINIUM S.A. donates 50 brand-new PCs to local schools in the Municipality of Distomon – Arachova – Antikyra and the Municipality of Livadia

True to its presence as an active member of the local community and under the slogan “The Future in the Schools!”, ALUMINIUM S.A. has donated 50 brandnew PCs to Primary, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary Schools in the Municipalities of Distomon – Arachova – Antikyra and Livadia.

This initiative is in line with the company’s firm commitment and continuous efforts to support and assist the local community where it operates for more than half a century now. During the ceremony held to present the schools with the equipment, which took place on Friday, April 26 at the Distomon Upper Secondary School, MYTILINEOS Group Communication Manager Mrs Vivian Bouzali made the following statement: “In recent years ALUMINIUM has engaged in a dialogue with the representatives of the local community on a number of important social and environmental issues that are of relevance to the broader region. Our initiative today does not only demonstrate our actual support of the young generation, but also confirms that we do listen to local needs and we do respond to them, in spite of the adverse conditions caused by the crisis.”

The initiative aims to help young people become better acquainted with the new technologies, by providing them with easier access to the information world, as well as with additional skills which will be useful to them in the future. This is all the more important as, according to a recent EU survey of the penetration of new technologies in education, Greece is ranked in one of the lowest positions in terms of the pupils’ access to computers.

Among those present in the event were Prefectural Administration Council Member, Mr N. Papanagiotou, Distomon-Arachova-Antikyra Mayor, Mr I. Patsantaras, and education and local government representatives.
