OTE & COSMOTE: the only companies in Greece today with Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin

OTE and COSMOTE are the only companies in Greece that secured in 2012, for a second consecutive year, Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin from electricity supply company PPC S.A..

The guarantees officially certify that for the total electricity consumption of OTE and COSMOTE, that is covered by the network of PPC, an equivalent amount of energy has been produced from Renewable Energy Sources resulting in zero greenhouse gas emissions.

The certification in question is part of the practices for the monitoring and reduction of the environmental footprint of OTE and COSMOTE. In 2012, the two companies managed to:

reduce their total energy consumption by 3.5% compared to 2011
reduce their electricity consumption by 2.7% compared to 2011, despite the development of new services requiring additional facilities and creating further energy needs
obtain LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design–Level Gold) certification for the new company building in Paiania and Energy Efficiency Certification (PEA), Class A, in accordance with the Buildings Energy Efficiency Regulation (KENAK).
