The prize for the car of the year was awarded by the Deputy Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Makis Papageorgiou, who in his speech made a reference to the effort for expanding the use of natural gas as a fuel for cars, as in many other European countries, due to the environmental advantages and low cost of the specific fuel. He also noted that after the opening of the first natural gas fueling station in Thessaloniki, there is a plan to establish more stations in 2014.
The Car of the Year for Greece in 2014 was the Renault Clio.
