An element of Making More Health’s commitment to bringing employees and social entrepreneurs together is the Boehringer Ingelheim Executive in Residence program.
This is a program where Boehringer Ingelheim employees actively support social entrepreneurs on site. This creates a win-win situation to both parties: while Boehringer Ingelheim employees provide specific business skills to our Making More Health fellows, they also learn and develop valuable leadership competencies from the experience with these social entrepreneurs.
The exchange of professional and social skills is an essential experience for all people involved. This aspect of Making More Health forms a bridge between Boehringer Ingelheim’s expertise and competence and the innovative capabilities of the social entrepreneurs.
Executive in Residence Activities 2014
In 2014 again, the Making More Health Executive in Residence Program fosters high-impact collaborations between Boehringer Ingelheim leaders and social entrepreneurs with the potential to change the dynamics of traditional markets, enhance competitiveness, and create systemic social impact. It is about creating win-win situations to both: the social and the business world. Therefore, our employees can apply for on-site pro bono activities to support our Making More Health fellows in the upcoming months.
What EiRs will learn
The program offers our employees the opportunity to learn more about cutting-edge innovations and revolutionary healthcare models and to experience an unusual leadership development opportunity. This includes an immersive pro bono experience that makes full use of the executive’s professional experience and stretches his/her skill set. There is the chance to realize systemic and lasting social impact by collaborating with some of the world’s most innovative social entrepreneurs.
The EiR placements 2014
Making More Health and the project partner Ashoka has identified eleven fellows out of our networks around the world who have innovative ideas, and the need for pro-bono support from a talented executive. The placements include working with fellows in South Africa, India, Germany and the United States.
What is needed and how can our EiRs contribute?
Our executives are asked to support the social entrepreneurs by developing further marketing and communications activities, by preparing advertising campaigns and by developing mobile applications/offering IT support, by transferring knowledge and knowhow on sales and account management processes and by networking across “traditional borders”. The opportunities to participate in this program are open to Boehringer Ingelheim employees only.
