Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today introduced PowerTag®, the smallest wireless power meter available, designed to enhance the monitoring and security of electrical assets. PowerTag simplifies the connectivity of individual breakers to a Building Management System (BMS), providing building owners and facility managers with precise, powerful, and real-time data to increase the health of a facilty’s strategic assets.

Designed for any type of building, the energy sensor easily monitors and measures energy use, currents, voltages, power and power factor. This first of its kind connection enables greater security of electrical assets by providing the ability to better manage critical loads – leading to higher reliability and efficiency of the electrical installation. Data is sent wirelessly to a concentrator to display the data via webpages, or within a larger BMS. Data can also be leveraged to create customized e-mail alarms to assist facility managers with remote monitoring of the assets.

“Customers are more and more demanding for new solutions to meet the critical challenges of building energy management,” said Philippe Delorme, Executive Vice President, Partner Business, Schneider Electric. “PowerTag provides the innovation to make energy management simpler, with a form factor that doesn’t require a complete overhaul. The majority of circuit breakers can now be tagged bringing electrical distribution connectivity to a new era, in reality it’s a five minute installation and you’re on and connected.”

The compact, space-saving auxiliary fits easily in new and existing panelboards, enhancing the energy efficiency of the entire facility. PowerTag is natively integrated into Schneider Electric’s Acti 9 Communication System to provide customers an all-in-one monitoring and control solution. PowerTag is available directly through Schneider Electric, or Schneider Electric authorized distributors.
