On the occasion of International Women’s Day and within the framework of the special attention given to social and business responsibility for its female employees, INTERAMERICAN organized a day for clinical breast examinations, in cooperation with the Senologic Hellenic Society (EEM).
Initially, 40 employees were examined at the central offices, while any other female employee will have the opportunity to receive a free examination by the EEM if they so wish. The clinical examination was carried out by mastologist Dr. Lydia Ioannidou-Mouzaka, chairman, and gynaecologist Theodoros Liakakos, member of the EEM.
“INTERAMERICAN, in connection with its insurance work in the health sector, has developed a series of related company social responsibility initiatives, placing emphasis on prevention and healthcare support services, both towards vulnerable social groups and towards its human resources, significantly improving the health index in the workplace – data that has been recorded in the company CSR Report”, stated Yiannis Roundos, director of public relations and CSR of the Group. Within the framework of its partnerships with NGOs, INTERAMERICAN steadily supports the Senologic Hellenic Society’s scientific work and co-organizes information and prevention actions for breast disease on an annual basis.
Breast cancer was recently characterized as “a top public health problem, that especially affects small and medium economy level countries” by Mrs. Mouzaka, during the 2nd International Conference for Breast Disease Centres, held in Paris. According to the data of the World Health Organization, breast cancer incidence is expected to rise by 50% by 2020, affecting 15 million women.
