Piraeus Bank was recently ranked first among the Banks in Greece according to the Accountability Ratings and was the only bank to be awarded by the CR Index for its corporate responsibility performance.

The Accountability Rating is a tool for measuring the extent to which companies have built responsible practices into the way they do business and their impact on the economies, societies and environments in which they operate. The Rating has been developed by csrnetwork and the international think-tank AccountAbility.

The CR Index is a benchmarking tool that measures and compares responsible business. Business in the Community, a UK-based organisation, has launched the CR Index to challenge and support companies in managing, integrating and communicating their positive impact on society. The index was applied in Greece for the first time.

Mrs. Sophia Staikou, Head of Piraeus Bank CSR division, and President of Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, stated on the occasion of the two distinctions: "Environmental and social concerns are in our DNA and therefore Corporate Social Responsibility is high on our agenda. We consider CSR a long term investment. CSR is not an ad hoc activity for us; we have developed and continuously strengthen procedures and mechanisms that incorporate CSR principles in our entire decision making processes."
