Three programmes in Greece to be financed and placed in the spotlight throughout 2010
EuroCharity is pleased to announce that, following its successful annual on-line voting procedure in which 4,306 confirmed Web site visitors casted their vote throughout November 2009 (versus 4,356 votes the previous year) on EuroCharity.gr, Floga's (Greek Parents Association of Children with Cancer) project received most of the votes (669).
Every year, EuroCharity, the values-based company that owns and operates the Reference Point for Corporate Social Responsibility and the Green Economy – www.eurocharity.org, donates 25% of its membership fees received in its fiscal year (January 1 – December 31) to selected non-profit project proposals of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that are registered EuroCharity members.
The other two winning projects were chosen by EuroCharity's Committee in December 2008.
NGOs whose proposals will receive funding from EuroCharity
- Floga – Greek Parents Association of Children with Cancer (winner of EuroCharity’s on-line NGO poll)
- Lifeline Hellas – Humanitarian Organisation
- Social Work Foundation – Hadzipaterion Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy
EuroCharity's five-member charity committee remained the same in 2009, and was made up of the following professionals:
- Mr. Peter Michel Heilmann, President, EuroCharity
- Mr. Michael Spanos, Managing Partner, EuroCharity
- Ms. Athina Galani, Managing Director, MEDA Communication S.A., an Athens-based communication and marketing consulting company specialised in social marketing
- Mr. Lambros A. Rodis, Editor-in-Chief, "Scientific Marketing" magazine
- Ms. Eleni Gklegkle, attorney-at-law
In addition to its funding commitment, EuroCharity commits to place the three chosen non-profit projects of its NGO members in the spotlight throughout 2010, through project updates, promotional campaigns (such as banners on EuroCharity's bi-lingual portal), informing its members and stakeholders of the need for other (corporate) donors to come on board, etc.
This is the fourth consecutive year that EuroCharity has funded specific NGOs and their projects and put them in the spotlight in Greece.
Commenting on the three donations, Mr. Peter Michel Heilmann, President, EuroCharity said: "It is really exciting to see that a record number of 36 projects were submitted by EuroCharity members active in the non-profit sector, also known as the citizen sector or civil society, in Greece. I congratulate Floga, Lifeline Hellas and Social Work Foundation whose project proposals will be funded by EuroCharity in the new year. I also wish to thank all the voters of our on-line poll for casting their vote as well as all our EuroCharity members that made this funding procedure possible through their membership fees.
