Piraeus Bank has been managing its operational environmental impacts, through the European co-funded project GREENbanking4Life.
Within this framework, the Bank developed energy-saving programmes and implemented pilot installations of photovoltaic systems in 4 buildings, with a total capacity of 45 kW. The Bank's demands in electricity are partially covered with "clean energy" that is produced by these photovoltaic systems, thus avoiding the emission of 56 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year, an amount that requires annually 4,200 trees for its absorption.
These four stations can produce annually about 54,000 kWh and it is estimated that over the next 25 years they will have avoided the emission of 1,215,000 kg. of CO2.
