COSMOTE announces 2010-2011 Scholarships for the Greek Region

For the ninth consecutive year COSMOTE supports the young people of the Greek Region
 
With the message “Plan your future as you dream…” COSMOTE announces, for the ninth consecutive year, its Scholarship program for the Greek Region. COSMOTE Scholarships are awarded to ten first-year Greek University students of all disciplines, aiming to support their academic studies.

This year’s program focuses on public high-school graduates from the Prefectures of Aitoloakarnania, Evros, Ioannina, Kilkis, Kozani, Korithos, Larissa, Lesvos, Chalkidiki and Chania. For the 2010-2011 academic year, the amount of COSMOTE Scholarships is fifteen thousand (15,000) euros each, while the ten students will also receive a laptop from COSMOTE with free Internet On The Go for a whole year. Taking into consideration the number and level of candidates, the company plans to award this year as well, Honorary Distinctions worth of EUR 1,500 each.

This year, for the first time candidates’ application submission is only available in electronic format through the company’s official Web site. Since the launch of COSMOTE Scholarships in 2002, the company has awarded 81 Scholarships and 178 Honorary Distinctions, worth a total of over EUR 1 million and has already covered the Greek Region 150%. This initiative, which is part of COSMOTE’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, demonstrates the company’s commitment to contribute to a better future for young people and support the Greek Region.

Note:
COSMOTE SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded to 2009-2010 high-school graduates accepted in Greek Universities as first-year students. General requirements for Scholarship eligibility among others are: acceptance in any Greek University (any school or department), graduation from public high-school of the prefectures of Aitoloakarnania, Evros, Ioannina, Kilkis, Kozani, Korithos, Larissa, Lesvos, Chalkidiki and Chania (it is noted that the University candidates will enrol to and attend classes, must be in a different prefecture than the high-school they graduated from), submission of the application and all relevant documents within the deadline (as prescribed in the detailed official announcement), candidates’ objective financial constraint in covering study costs. Additional social criteria such as disabilities, children from large families etc. will be taken into consideration. COSMOTE Honorary Distinctions are awarded to candidates with outstanding school and extra-curricular records.
