Certification by the Hellenic Accreditation System for HEDNO’s Meter Control Laboratory

HEDNO’s Meter Control Laboratory was ISO/EN 17025 certified by the Hellenic Accreditation System (ESYD).

It is noted that the Meter Control Laboratory, Laboratories and Radios, Metering Branch, Network Department of the Company – where control and calibration works of Low and Medium Voltage meters are performed – is the second in Greece, after the Hellenic Institute of Metrology, that has taken this certification.

The fully organized and equipped laboratory performs, inter alia, meter controls for power supplies that are suspicious for electricity theft.

Furthermore, metering systems used for electricity recording can be calibrated and a control certificate is issued. ISO/ΕΝ 17025 certifies that the laboratory has the technical and administrative capabilities to perform tests, measurements and calibrations, according to specific standard or laboratory methods using specific equipment, within specific and stated precision limits.

The laboratory’s accreditation is the official recognition of its technical sufficiency and reliability, particularly significant characteristics for the performance of tests and controls related to public and private constructions. It is clarified that in many constructions, for example big malls, meters are installed by the constructor, after verifying and confirming their proper operation.

ISO/ΕΝ 17025 standard, covering Quality Management and Technical Management, helps the laboratory to produce valid results and, in addition, gives increased prestige due to the accreditation by the Hellenic Accreditation System.

It is reminded that the Sector of Laboratories and Radios was already certified in 2002 and has been operating according to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
