Alpha Bank’s Corporate Responsibility programme “Together, for better health” was first launched in
2014 and, since then, is consistently carried out in collaboration with the non-profit organisation
“Agoni Grammi Gonimi”. The Programme contributes to the efforts to improve health services in the
Greek islands, by offering medical equipment and pharmaceutical supplies to the local medical
centres, thus enhancing the quality of life of the local residents and their feeling of security regarding
their health and access to medical care.
In 2019, the Programme delivered medical equipment and pharmaceutical supplies to the
“Trifylleio” General Hospital – Health Centre of Kythira, the General-purpose Regional
Surgery of Hydra, the General Hospital of Aghios Nikolaos, Crete, the General-purpose
Regional Surgery of Thirassia, the General-purpose Regional Surgery of Poros, the Generalpurpose Regional Surgery of Aghios Efstratios, the General-purpose Regional Surgery of
Alonissos, the General-purpose Regional Surgery of Psara and the General-purpose Regional
Surgery of Kimolos.
Present at the deliveries were representatives of the local Hospitals, medical organisations,
Municipal Authorities and the “Agoni Grammi Gonimi” organisation, together with residents of the
islands and Executives of the Bank.
The local medical centres have been equipped with 30,242 items of medical equipment, medical
appliances and pharmaceutical supplies (such as cardiographs, biochemical analysers, bone
densitometers, monitors, weighing scales, blood bag shakers, defibrillators etc.), in accordance with
their documented needs.
From the Programme’s launch to this day, 233,504 items of medical equipment, appliances and
pharmaceutical supplies have been delivered to 51 islands with a total of 548,515 inhabitants,
who thus obtained direct access to health services which, although necessary, were not a given for
the local medical centres of the individual islands.
