Xenofon Avlonitis appointed new Executive General Manager at Alpha Bank

Alpha Bank announces the appointment of Xenofon Avlonitis as Executive General Manager, effective as of 1.9.2019. The new Executive General Manager will be under the supervision of the General Manager – Chief Legal and Governance Officer of the Group, and will report directly to the CEO, Vassilis Psaltis, while as of 1.11.2019 he will undertake the duties of the Head of the Compliance Division, Michalis Oratis, following his retirement.

Short CV of Xenofon Avlonitis

Xenofon Avlonitis was born in 1969. He served as Vice Chairman of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission between 2009 and 2019, for the maximum of two tenures. He was an Alternate Member representing the Commission to the ESMA Board of Supervisors. He presided over a series of committees on the subject of the implementation of EU Directives into the Greek legislation. Before 2009, he had been working in the Commission for 12 years, having served as Director in the Department of Public Offerings & Supervision of Listed Companies from 2003 to 2009. For the first six years of his career, he worked in the Greek private sector. He served as a Board Member at the Hellenic Accounting and Auditing Standards Oversight Board and has been a member of the Hellenic Corporate Governance Council since 2011. He studied Economics in the University of Piraeus and holds an MSc in Business Finance from Brunel University. He has been the only Greek professional accepted in the Yale World Fellows Program.
