GENESIS Pharma sponsors the marathon swimming champion Kelly Araouzou

The company supports her Olympic preparations for the 10km Open Water Finals of the Rio Olympics.

Since 2014, GENESIS Pharma has been supporting the efforts of the Greek marathon swimmer Kelly Araouzou for qualification to the Rio Olympics 2016 as an exclusive sponsor, while today it stands by her in the final stretch before the big Finals of the 10km open water Swimming to be held on August 15, 2016.

Kelly earned her qualification for the Olympics a year ago, at the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan where she won the 8th place in the 10km open water swimming. In Kazan she also won a silver medal in the 5km open water swimming, her highest personal achievement to date.

She has already won many medals in Greece and abroad, holding already, at the age of 25, two world medals and five European. She started as a long distance pool swimmer, achieving national records in 400m and 800m freestyle swimming. At age 17, she qualified for the 2008 World Championship, where she had her first international success, winning a silver medal in the 1500m swim event at the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Mexico. These achievements  in long-distance pool swimming, led her to test her capabilities in open water swimming.

In 2009 she started participating in European and world championships in 3, 5 and 10km open water swimming. She won a gold medal in the 3km open water swimming and a bronze medal in the 5km Open Water at the European Junior Championships in 2009. In 2010, she reached the highest step of the podium at the European Championship in 5km Open Water swimming, while at the 2011 World Cup she won a bronze medal in the 10km Open Water swimming and in the 2012 European Championship silver medals in the 5km and 10km Open water swimming.

She is also a member of the Greek marathon swimming team which has won three European medals in marathon team events, gold in2010, silver both in 2012 and in 2014 as well as a silver medal at the 2013 World Championship.
