ESG training workshops by Global Sustain held in cooperation with EBRD in Tunis and in Istanbul
“Environmental & Social Risk Management & Sustainable Finance Capacity Building for Private Equity Fund Managers”
Global Sustain organized and delivered, in agreement and co-operation with EBRD, a tailored made ESG training workshop for EBRD‘s equity funds clients for one full day in Tunis, in Ramada Plaza Hotel on December 4 and in Istanbul, in Novotel Istanbul Bosphorus Hotel, on December 6.
The «Environmental & Social Risk Management & Sustainable Finance Capacity Building for Private Equity Fund Managers» training included short case studies, practical advice and support based on the national framework and standards, the level of ESG in the national market in each country and the sophistication of the fund managers. The training also included sufficient space for questions and discussions on topics of particular relevance or concern to the participants.
Mr. Michael Spanos, Managing Director of Global Sustain Group and Mr. Yannis Salavopoulos, Managing Director of Global Sustain GmbH & Group Head International Affairs offered an overview of current Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) facts, figures and trends in the Private Equity fund sphere and the applicable EU, international and national Environmental & Social Legislation and Initiatives. Also, Ms. Maya Hennerkes, ESG Sector Lead for Financial Intermediaries of EBRD presented the EBRD’s Environmental and Social Requirements. At the end of the training, a Roundtable Exercise was held on E&S Due Diligence.
In Tunis, 13 private equity practitioners participated in the training representing 8 funds with total AuM of 4 billion USD. In Istanbul, 25 private equity practitioners participated in the training representing 13 funds with total AuM of 15,4 billion USD.
The next workshop of this training series will be held in Warsaw, Poland on January 29, 2020 in Warsaw Marriot Hotel.
