Delhaize Group publishes its first Corporate Responsibility report

The international food retailer, Delhaize Group, has published its first Corporate Responsibility Report, entitled “A Healthy Approach to Life”.

The report describes how the Group has contributed to the health and wellbeing of its customers, associates and the communities in which it operates through its activities in three key areas: Products, People and Planet. Within each of these three areas, the report focuses on the Group's strategic priorities. These include:

  • Food safety and health (Products)
  • Associate development (People)
  • Energy conservation (Planet)

Compiled using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 guidelines, the report provides data, KPIs and other information for the calendar year 2007 for both the Group as a whole and for its operating companies. There are also clearly signposted commitments for future activities. Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) advised on the report's content and metrics and provided a review statement, included at the back of the report.

A PDF of the report can be downloaded at Delhaize Group's Web site at www.delhaizegroup.com. For a hard copy of the report or for further information about the Group's Corporate Responsibility activities, E-mail the Group at corporate-responsibilitydelhaizegroup.com.
